Occupational Hygiene –
Roles ranging from new to industry (no experience) to experienced Hygienists.
Occuhealth is a fully comprehensive occupational health and hygiene consultancy that has been operating throughout Western Australia for over 25 years. We specialise in occupational hygiene, respiratory and ear plug fit testing, health surveillance, and hazmat/asbestos services. Our operations are supported by a NATA-accredited laboratory, two offices, mobile vans and extensive on-site work. Servicing new and existing clients into 2026 we are ready to grow and build our skilled workforce, looking to fill occupational hygiene roles, with new to industry applicants, through to experienced Occupational Hygienists. We are looking for people that have great work ethic and a strong 'can do' attitude that will support our clients in protecting worker health.
Occupational Hygiene roles are diverse in nature and require flexibility around working environments which include Perth metro, remote WA and FIFO locations. In this position you'll play a vital role in safeguarding workers from potential hazards across a range of industries, including mining and oil/gas. The role:
• Undertake Occupational exposure monitoring, for hazards including dust, diesel particulates, welding fumes, noise, asbestos fibres, chemicals and water sampling.
• Perform respirator and hearing protection fit testing to ensure wearer receives adequate protection from noise and dust/chemical contaminants in their workplace
• Perform Audiometric (hearing) and Spirometry (lung function) assessments
• Work across a diverse landscape of industries and clients
• Prepare timely professional reports for clients that are aligned with Occuhealth standards and quality.
Role Requirements
Essential
• Valid unrestricted Australian Driver's License and right to work in Australia
• Ability and willingness to work fly in fly out or drive in drive out when required for adhoc, short term or sometimes long-term assignments
• Strong analytical and written communication skills that support succinct writing for technical reports and strong verbal communication to convey information to technical and non-technical minded personnel.
• A fabulous work ethic and willingness to support our clients through amazing customer service and willingness to assist them to meet their goals.
• The ability to work independently but also be a proactive team member of a high-performing team.
• Competent computer skills in Microsoft, including Word and Excel.
Any of the following requirements are highly regarded but not essential. This should not deter applicants from applying as training can be provided for new to industry technicians. It is expected that more experienced technicians will meet numerous criteria and a broad spread of experience and backgrounds will provide diversity to our clients.
Highly regarded:
• Remote, mine site, or FIFO experience
• Experience working in a Work Health Safety or Hygiene Team or have experience in monitoring, s including dust particulates, welding fumes, noise, asbestos fibres or chemicals
• Hold, or are eligible to apply for their MAQT (Hygiene Sampler Registration
• Degree in science-based industry, undertaken the Basic Principles of Hygiene course or occupational hygiene experience
• Hold MAQO or ready to sit the exams and are prepared to accept a statutory position
• Registered Noise Officer or ready to sit exams
• Licensed Asbestos Assessor
• Audiometric testing qualification or experience
• Fit Testing experience or RESPFIT accreditation
• Spirometry or Drug and alcohol testing experience
• Have an injury management background
For new to industry technicians, training will be provided and will be initially retained locally in the Perth/regional area whilst being supported and trained. For experienced Hygienists, a range of client and project work is on offer.
