Communications Officer

Local Council (Melbourne's West)

$51 per hour + super

3-month temporary contract (January start)

Hybrid working model

Public Sector People are partnering with a local council in Melbourne's west to recruit an experienced Communications Officer for a 3-month temporary assignment commencing in January.

This role requires previous local council experience and strong writing, editing and stakeholder engagement skills.

Key Responsibilities:

• Publications: Research, write, edit and proofread a range of corporate publications.

• Media Liaison: Support the preparation of media responses, alerts and releases; coordinate interviews and photo opportunities.

• Speechwriting: Draft well-researched speeches for Council as required.

• Project Communications: Plan, develop and deliver communications for special projects across the organisation.

About You:

• Proven communications experience within local government (essential).

• Strong writing, editing and proofreading skills.

• Ability to manage multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

• Confident working with internal and external stakeholders.
