John Barnes & Co (QLD) Pty Ltd, a leader in the field of locksmithing and door hardware supply, are looking to employ a dynamic person to join our Accounts team based in Salisbury QLD as an Accounts Receivable Clerk.

About the role

The Accounts Receivable Clerk role manages all aspects of the accounts receivable process, including payment collection, credit account applications, and petty cash management. This role is essential to maintaining positive cash flow, building strong relationships with our customers, and ensuring the efficient operation of financial processes.

Key responsibilities

  • Monitor and record incoming payments, ensuring proper application to accounts and invoices.

  • Manage cash float, including petty cash top-ups and till cash float management.

  • Handle and process customer credit account applications efficiently and accurately.

  • Reconcile, maintain and update customer account records with the highest level of accuracy.

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with customers to facilitate effective debt collection.

  • Follow up on overdue accounts and work with customers to resolve outstanding balances.

  • Address and resolve billing inquiries or disputes in collaboration with internal teams.

  • Provide back up to accounts team, which includes reception duties.

  • Other duties may be assigned to fulfill the company's objectives and /or job duties and requirements may be changed as needed to meet current and future business needs.

Experience

  • Related office experience & data entry.

Skills, knowledge and ability

  • Proficiency in accounting software, preferably MYOB Exo.

  • Microsoft Office skills (Word, Excel, Outlook, Access)

  • Clear, professional communication & interaction with clients and colleagues at all levels.

  • Ability to work independently and or as part of a team.

  • The ability to manage your workload independently while delivering high-quality results.

  • Reliable, professional, punctual and maintain a positive attitude.

  • Attention to detail and accuracy
