Do you love the idea of cooking for children in a warm, family-like setting where your meals are truly at the heart of the day? We're looking for a qualified and caring Centre Chef to bring that homely touch to our kitchen while upholding the highest standards of nutrition and food safety.

About the Role and Whiz Kidz

As our Centre Chef, you'll create nutritious, comforting meals that support children's wellbeing and help them thrive. Your kitchen will feel like the warm hub of a family home — full of delicious smells, real care, and a sense of pride.

This permanent full-time role is based at our brand-new Sydenham centre, a purpose-built, 80-place service designed to feel like a "home away from home." You'll work Monday to Friday, 7am to 3pm, giving you consistent hours and a work-life balance rarely found in hospitality.

What You'll Be Responsible For:

  • Preparing wholesome, child-friendly meals for up to 80 children daily (morning tea, lunch, afternoon tea, and a late snack)
  • Designing rotating seasonal menus that follow nutritional guidelines and accommodate allergies, cultural needs, and dietary restrictions
  • Managing food orders, minimising waste, and working within budget
  • Maintaining a clean, organised, and inviting kitchen that complies with all food safety regulations
  • Keeping up-to-date records, including allergen and food safety documentation
  • Supporting special events, cultural celebrations, and parent engagement around food

What We're Looking For:

  • Experience as a chef or cook — ideally in childcare, aged care, or similar community settings
  • Food Safety Supervisor Certificate (or willingness to obtain)
  • Strong organisation skills, reliability, and a love for running a tidy, efficient kitchen
  • A warm, caring approach to cooking — meals made with heart and purpose
  • Someone who enjoys being part of a team and contributing to a positive, home-like environment for children
