As part of Gallagher's Animal Management division, eShepherd is revolutionising livestock management.

Our breakthrough virtual fencing solution empowers farmers to monitor, move, and manage cattle from anywhere. Using GPS-enabled, solar-powered neckbands, farmers can create digital fence lines from their phone - transforming land use, reducing labour, and improving both environmental and animal welfare outcomes.

This is innovation with real-world impact on pasture health, productivity, and profitability.

We need a Test Engineer who's passionate about quality and ready to help us deliver embedded systems that perform flawlessly in the toughest environments.

What You'll Tackle

You'll be a hands-on guardian of product quality, designing and executing test cases that keep our firmware rock-solid.

From manual test execution to developing automated scripts, you'll collaborate closely with developers to uncover, document, and resolve issues before they ever reach our customers.

Your work will help ensure every device we ship meets the highest standards of reliability and performance. You'll analyse logs, validate features across embedded systems and cloud platforms, and champion continuous improvement every step of the way.

What You're Made Of

You're methodical, curious, and driven by a passion for getting things right. You thrive in agile environments, love collaborating to solve problems, and don't rest until the details are nailed down.

Here's what you bring to the herd:

  • A degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Mechatronics, or a related field
  • 3+ years of manual testing experience in collaborative development teams
  • Skill in writing and executing automated test scripts (e.g., Zephyr, Jira, Bitbucket)
  • The ability to dig into raw device logs and cloud data to uncover hidden issues
  • Clear, precise communication—no jargon, just clarity

  • Strong troubleshooting instincts and an eye for detail

  • Designing and developing tools and systems with an AI-first mindset

  • Familiarity with embedded systems, IoT architecture, and modern app testing

Bonus points if you have experience with:

  • SQL databases
  • CI/CD pipelines
  • Cloud platforms
  • Security and performance testing
