Permanent Part-Time | Ongoing Position

Location: Mansfield, Victoria

Mansfield District Hospital (MDH) is seeking a motivated, organised, and compassionate Theatre Ward Clerk to join our dedicated Clinical Management Team. This is an exciting opportunity to play an important role in supporting our surgical and theatre services while contributing to the delivery of Great Care within our hospital.

About the Role

As the Theatre Ward Clerk, you'll provide high-quality administrative support to our nursing and theatre teams. You'll be responsible for the coordination of patient admissions and discharges, theatre and midwifery bookings, and the accurate maintenance of medical records and documentation.

Your professionalism, attention to detail, and strong communication skills will help ensure the smooth and efficient operation of the theatre unit and contribute to a positive experience for patients, staff, and visitors.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage patient admissions and discharges for the theatre and ward.
  • Prepare and process theatre and midwifery bookings and documentation.
  • Complete daily bed returns and maintain accurate patient records.
  • Provide reception and administrative support at the Nurses' and Urgent Care stations.
  • Organise appointments for discharged patients as required.
  • Maintain confidentiality and demonstrate compassion in all patient interactions.
  • Identify and report system errors or inefficiencies to support process improvement.
  • Participate in team meetings and contribute ideas to improve service delivery.
  • Maintain and update skills and knowledge relevant to the role.
About You

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a courteous and professional manner.
  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage competing priorities under pressure.
  • A compassionate, patient-focused approach and commitment to confidentiality.
  • The ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a busy team environment.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and confidence using general office equipment.

Desirable:

  • Previous experience in a healthcare or hospital administration role.
  • Understanding of medical terminology and familiarity with theatre or health information systems.
