About the role
As a Senior Engineer - Network Planner, you will lead the identification, research, and development of design and planning initiatives across the Energy Network. This role involves strategic technical evaluations, project management, and the implementation of engineering solutions that support the development of broad plans, budgets, and strategies. You will play a key role in delivering high-impact projects, fostering stakeholder relationships, and driving innovation in service delivery.
This role will be based within the Essential Energy footprint with the ability to work from home in a hybrid work environment.
About You
You are a proactive and strategic thinker with a strong background in engineering within the Energy, Electrical, or Utilities sectors. You thrive in complex environments, are confident in managing both planned and unplanned events, and are passionate about delivering high-quality technical outcomes. Your ability to build relationships and contribute to commercial partnerships will be essential to your success.

Proven ability to resolve critical unplanned events using sound technical knowledgeStrong problem-solving and decision-making capabilitiesExperience in managing audits and reporting with actionable recommendationsExcellent communication and interpersonal skillsHighly organised, self-motivated, and adaptable to changing workloadsStrong time management and planning abilities with attention to detailProficient in relevant computer operations and business systemsRequired Qualifications
Bachelor of Engineering (Electrical) or equivalent, meeting graduate membership requirements for Engineers AustraliaValid driver's licenceWorkCover NSW Construction Induction CertificateMaintenance of all necessary regulatory, industry, and business licences and authorisationsDesired experience
Extensive experience in a similar engineering role within the Energy/Electrical or Utilities industryIn-depth knowledge of network design philosophies, statutory requirements, and Essential Energy Electrical Safety RulesDemonstrated ability to manage technical issues during planned and unplanned eventsExperience in managing business unit tasks and promoting organisational imageFamiliarity with strategic contingency planning and information systemsLevel 3 Restricted Zone Substation access (desirable)Why Essential Energy
