Kew, Victoria, Australia Methodist Ladies' College Full time $90,000 - $120,000 per year

The Role:

Permanent, Full-time

MLC is seeking a strategic and creative Communications professional—someone who understands audience needs, has a flexible approach to ensure timely, audience centred communications are prioritised, can tailor messaging to drive engagement across a variety of platforms, and ensures our communications are clear, compelling and impactful.

As part of the Community Engagement Department, you will play a critical role in shaping how MLC connects with families, keeping parents informed about their daughters' experiences and showcasing the unique experiences that set our school apart. You will strategically craft and optimise content, using both written and visual storytelling to engage our College community across our digital and print channels.

You will be instrumental in managing the publication of timely and accurate information across key communication channels to current families, including our fortnightly parent newsletter and parent portal, and in developing high-quality written materials that reflect MLC's values and commitment to excellence in education based on our annual calendar.

This is also problem-solving role. You'll also track engagement data and use audience feedback to refine communication practices, ensuring MLC's communications are delivered on time and resonate effectively. In collaboration with the team members across the Community Engagement Department, you will analyse audience insights, identify gaps, and provide input as we develop solutions to improve our communication with key stakeholders.

In this role, you will:

  • Develop audience-first communications – Understand parent needs and create and deliver communications and content that enhances their experience.
  • Solve communication challenges – Identify gaps, develop creative solutions, and refine strategies based on engagement data.
  • Tell our story visually and in writing – Create brand-aligned content, from newsletters to videos, and print.
  • Use data to drive decisions – Analyse content and continuously improve how we connect with our community.
  • Support the College – Provide expert communication and community engagement advice to teams across MLC.

You will bring:

  • A strategic mindset, with the ability to analyse audience needs and engagement trends.
  • Strong problem-solving skills—you know how to diagnose communication challenges and develop creative solutions.
  • Outstanding writing, editing, and proofreading skills, with the ability to tailor content for various audiences and mediums
  • Experience in communications and audience engagement.
  • A data-driven approach—you're comfortable using analytics and insights to refine communication strategies.
  • Experience working across email marketing, newsletters, digital platforms, and publications.
  • A qualification in Communications, Marketing, Journalism, or a related field.
