We are seeking a motivated and technically curious Trainee/Graduate Drilling Engineer to join our dynamic team in Perth, Western Australia. This entry-level role is ideal for recent graduates or early-career professionals with up to two years of experience in engineering or oil and gas operations.
What will you be doing?
As a Trainee/Graduate Drilling Engineer, you will support the well-engineering team while gaining hands-on experience and attending required training. You will progress through the 2–3-year graduate programme, developing into a qualified drilling engineer. In addition, you will also:
Key Responsibilities:
- Preparation of technical sections of ITT's and analysis of returned bids for the selection of third-party services.
- Preliminary well design for normally pressured wells, including casing, directional, fluids, cementing bits and hydraulics.
- Preparation of discreet sections of well construction programmes.
- Liaison with key third-party contractors for input to well designs and programmes.
- Preparation of data for statutory submissions to regulatory authorities.
- Preparation of and participation in risk assessment, hazard analysis and DWOP processes.
- Preparation and processing of probabilistic models for well engineering projects.
- Preparation of AFE's and cash flow analysis for clients.
- Operational support including preparation of load out lists, daily cost tracking, supplementary programme preparation and reporting.
- Occasional offshore assignment on AGR operated rigs to assist the AGR Drilling Supervisor on specific technical sections of the well construction programme.
- Adherence to AGR Well Delivery Process and Quality Management System when designing a well.
- Fulfil the Drilling Engineer requirements under a submitted Emergency Response Plan.
- Ability to schedule individual work scopes to meet agreed deadlines.
The position will be based in Perth, Australia, and you must have the right to live and work in Australia. (We do not provide sponsorship). Flexibility to work hours from time to time may be required, with the ability to work remotely, travel to the site or overseas for work.
What are we looking for?
To thrive in this role, you will have a relevant degree from a recognized university, with self-motivation, excellent communication skills, with the ability to work well independently and as part of a team, meeting targeted deadlines. In addition, you will have:
- A degree in a relevant subject from a recognised university.
- Self-motivated, energetic and engaging.
- Ability to work well independently as well as part of a team.
- Meet deadlines/schedule for individual work.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills.
- Ability to interact effectively at all levels within the Company, both autonomously as well as part of a team.
- Proactive and insightful.
Desirable:
- Any vocational work within the oil and gas industry would be advantageous.
- Minimum experience of 0 to 2 years in a related field is preferred.
