Melbourne, Victoria, Australia Dentons Full time $80,000 - $120,000 per year

About the role

Dentons Australia has a fantastic opportunity in our Melbourne office for someone looking to start or build upon their Paralegal career in our growing Recovery and Restructuring practice on a full-time permanent basis.

In this role, you will be acting on behalf of a number of Australia's major banks and non-bank lenders on secured and unsecured recovery matters. The work is of a fast-paced nature, which will see you having the responsibility of managing a portfolio of files. You will also work alongside lawyers in the team with an emphasis on compliance and quality assurance.

Your duties will include but not be limited to:

  • Responsibility of file management (from start to finish);
  • Preparing and issuing legal documents, including statutory notices and court documents;
  • Acting as first point of contact for clients, maintaining regular communications via specialised online web-based portal;
  • Outbound and inbound calls with defaulting customers, including liaising directly with customers in relation to sensitive financial matters with the aim to come to suitable arrangements; and
  • Working with lawyers to progress matters through Courts.

What you'll need to succeed

You will be extremely well organised and have superior drafting skills and close attention to detail.  In this role, you will handle a large workload and will be required to keep your workload up to date.

You will enjoy working in a friendly team environment under supportive partners, with on-the-job training to help you along the way.  You will be self-motivated and driven, with a professional outlook and phone manner and the ability to work under pressure and deal with sensitive matters.

Prior law firm experience is not a pre-requisite although applicants with secured or unsecured recoveries experience will be favourably considered. Law students should only apply if they have 2 years (or more) left on their degree.
