About the role

You will be a member of a team who contributes administrative, research and other support functions to the full range of services provided by the Legal Branch. You will use your initiative, judgement, and communication skills to deliver high quality paralegal services, aligned to EPA's strategic priorities, to prevent harm to Victorian communities and the environment from pollution and waste.

In this role you will:

  • Deliver paralegal services to assist solicitors to conduct legal work.
  • Conduct legal research, investigate options and provide recommendations; prepare draft reports, advice, correspondence and briefings.
  • File documents and maintain accurate and up to date legal records.
  • Draft and review legal documents.
  • Assist in preparation of briefs of evidence and associated court documents; monitor court hearings and due dates.

Skills and experience

  • Currently completing or has completed a relevant tertiary qualification in law or equivalent studies; or experience providing paralegal services.
  • Knowledge of the law and legal procedures applicable to a regulatory agency and understanding of procedural aspects of criminal and civil litigation or ability to quickly gain familiarity with relevant law and procedures.
  • Proven ability to work as an effective member of a cohesive team.
  • Ability to effectively manage time, with an organised and logical approach to given tasks.
  • Strong attention to detail with a commitment to producing high quality work.
