Power Systems Engineer

About the Role
As a Power Systems Engineer, you will be responsible for the analysis, design, and optimisation of electrical power systems, including the performance of alternators and generators, and the integration of both conventional and renewable technologies into the power grid. You'll collaborate with internal design, commissioning, and operations teams to ensure seamless system integration and compliance with all safety and quality standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform detailed power system modelling, analysis, and simulations.
- Assess, test, and optimise the performance of alternators and generators.
- Conduct generator connection and system integration studies.
- Provide technical expertise in alternator sizing, performance evaluation, and system integration.
- Analyse power quality, performance, and compliance with relevant standards.
- Prepare clear, high-quality technical reports, specifications, and proposals.
- Work collaboratively with cross-functional teams to deliver reliable and efficient systems.
- Contribute to safety-in-design reviews, risk assessments, and compliance with WHS requirements.
Skills & Competencies
- Strong technical understanding of power systems engineering, alternators, and generator technologies.
- Expertise in power system integration and performance optimisation.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Proven ability to work both independently and collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams.
- Strong project management and documentation skills.
- Experience in reliability and warranty management.
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering (postgraduate qualifications desirable).
- Eligibility for Engineers Australia membership and/or CPEng status (preferred).
- Demonstrated experience with alternators, synchronous generators, and power system integration projects.
- Proven capability in conducting power system studies for generator connections and integration.
- Familiarity with regulatory and compliance frameworks.
- Experience in the automotive sector highly regarded.
