About the role

Located in the heart of the Sydney CBD, they are currently seeking experienced and career-focused Senior Management Accountants and /or Supervisors who will be responsible for the day-to-day management of their medium to large insolvency matters. Supervisors will be responsible for the supervision of a team of insolvency accountants.

These roles are best suited to passionate and proactive individuals who enjoys working in a dynamic environment.

Typical day to day responsibilities

  • Oversee and guide a team of finance and reporting staff, assigning tasks, reviewing analytical outputs, and mentoring junior team members to strengthen their skills in budgeting, forecasting and management reporting.
  • Working in our corporate insolvency and reconstruction team on appointments such as voluntary administrations, receiverships, deeds of company arrangement, creditors' trusts and liquidations
  • Having carriage of a portfolio of medium to large sized assignments
  • Recovering and selling businesses and assets
  • Produce customised financial insights and internal performance updates, offering analysis that assists leadership in making informed operational and commercial decisions across the firm's insolvency and restructuring divisions.
  • Develop forward-looking financial plans, including budgets, projected cash flows, resource allocation models and performance assessments that help support the smooth delivery of insolvency-related projects.
  • Manage financial components that underpin insolvency and restructuring assignments, such as analysing internal costs, preparing fee and revenue projections, monitoring performance indicators, and assessing future resource needs.
  • Oversee the financial administration of a portfolio of matters, ensuring internal reporting timetables, financial control procedures, and revenue recognition practices are consistently followed.
  • Carry out in-depth financial reviews and modelling activities to identify performance patterns, assess profitability, highlight cost-saving opportunities, and support improvements in how engagements are managed.
  • Collaborate closely with internal stakeholders, including partners and team leaders, to communicate financial outcomes, discuss budget requirements, advise on resource planning and provide recommendations for improved operational effectiveness.
  • Assist internal advisory and dispute-related work by preparing financial data, analysis and supporting schedules used by senior staff in evaluating options and making decisions.
  • Evaluate and enhance internal financial processes, streamlining reporting practices and improving accuracy, efficiency and visibility of financial information across the firm.

In addition, the ideal candidates will possess the following attributes:

  • Experience supervising or managing a team
  • Experience in insolvency at a senior level
  • Professional Accounting qualifications (CA/CPA qualification required) (ARITA qualification)
  • Interest in becoming a registered liquidator
  • In depth knowledge of relevant insolvency and bankruptcy laws
  • Investigation experience
  • Analytical and problem solving mindset
  • Cost management experience
  • Budgeting and Forecasting experience
  • Analytical and Business acumen
  • High level of emotional intelligence and interpersonal skills
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Previous experience in CORE IPS, APS, MYOB, Xero
