Social Emotional Wellbeing Clinician

Location - Parramatta

Employment Type - Ongoing

Salary - Clerk Grade 5/6 ($99,938 - $110,271 p.a. + Superannuation and Annual Leave loading)

This position is open to Australian Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people only.

Your role

As part of the Intensive Foster Care (IFC) team, the Social Emotional Wellbeing (SEWB) Clinician will provide therapeutic services to improve the wellbeing of children and young people who are in out-of-home care, including their families and carers.

The SEWB Clinician will promote and support the cultural responsiveness of the IFC model.

What you'll do

As a vital part of the IFC team, you will work collaboratively with clinical, casework and project staff.

You will provide services inclusive of assessment, therapeutic intervention, consultation and training for young people experiencing trauma symptoms who are in out-of-home care.

You will work with young people and their caregiving network through a community outreach service.

You will communicate your understanding of the young person and advocate for their needs with identified stakeholders through written reports and verbal communication.

What we're looking for

A suitably qualified or experienced Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander person who possesses

  • Relevant tertiary qualifications in social work, psychology, mental-health, allied health or other human service fields; and /or demonstrated relevant equivalent experience working with children and young people experiencing trauma and/or mental health.
  • Thorough knowledge and understanding of the Social and Emotional Wellbeing Framework.
  • Knowledge of trauma informed practice for children and young people, their families and carers.
  • Demonstrated ability and experience in working with children and young people in out-of-home care.
  • Demonstrated ability and / or experience in delivering individual and group-based interventions
  • Current driver licence with ability and willingness to travel throughout NSW

As an Identified role, this position is open only to Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander persons, Australia's First Nations people.

There are two alternatives to confirming your Aboriginality, one of which must be uploaded to be considered for the role as follows. Either will be accepted:

  • Confirmation of Aboriginality form

  • Written confirmation from 2-3 Aboriginal organisations within the community in which you live/work, which addresses the three criteria listed below:
  • is of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander descent, and
  • identifies as an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander person, and
  • is accepted as a such by the Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander community.

Appointments are subject to reference checks and the following pre-employment checks:

  • National Criminal History Record Check in accordance with the Disability Inclusion Act 2014
  • Working with Children Check clearance in accordance with the Child Protection (Working with Children) Act 2012
