Coral Tree Family Services Mental Health Clinician - Family-Focused Mental Health Role in a Specialist Residential Service. Employment Type: Permanent Full Time. Hours Per Week: 38. Position Classification: Dependent on qualification. Requisition ID: REQ604851. Salary information is provided for relevant professional roles and ranges as part of the package.
Who we are: We are a health service that touches thousands of lives across the Northern Sydney Local Health District, working as a coordinated team. We are passionate, driven and committed to delivering the best possible care and services. NSW Health is committed to a diverse and inclusive workplace where all staff feel respected and able to participate safely.
Where you will be working: Coral Tree Family Service, North Ryde.
What You'll Be DoingCoral Tree Family Service is a tertiary referral service providing intensive, family-centred mental health treatment for children with significant emotional and behavioural challenges. As the only service of its kind in Australia, Coral Tree offers a therapeutic model that treats the family as the unit of care. Families from across NSW participate in structured four-night residential stays, receiving tailored, multidisciplinary support that combines therapeutic, social, and educational interventions.
The children referred to Coral Tree often experience persistent difficulties such as aggression, anxiety, or relational challenges that have not responded to community-based support. These difficulties can strain family relationships, disrupt daily functioning, and impede developmental progress. Coral Tree works to address these issues within a supportive and structured therapeutic environment.
Family Workers are essential to the program's success, delivering hands-on, real-time therapeutic interventions central to the service's approach. This full-time role includes weekly shift work on either Monday and Tuesday evenings or Wednesday and Thursday evenings, ensuring consistent support for families during their stay.
As a Family Worker, you will play a pivotal role in helping families build skills and confidence to navigate complex emotional and behavioural challenges. You will work collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team and have the flexibility and energy required for shift work in a dynamic, rewarding environment.
People of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander background are encouraged to apply.
Qualifications and Criteria- Recognised qualifications as a Psychologist, Registered Nurse, or Occupational Therapist with current registration through the relevant Professional Board of the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency, or eligibility for Membership for Social Workers with the AASW.
- Post-qualification experience that demonstrates the ability to provide a range of mental health interventions to children with severe emotional and behavioural problems.
- Demonstrated ability to manage clients presenting with a range of challenging behaviours.
Applicants may also need to meet vaccination and safety requirements as part of NSW Health policy and recruitment processes.
