As part of this growth, we are seeking a highly skilled Financial Officer to oversee our financial operations and provide strategic guidance to support our ongoing success.
About the Role
This position is ideal for a finance professional with strong experience in the civil or construction industry. As Financial Officer, you will oversee the company's financial health, lead compliance and reporting, and provide insights that support the Director and management team in making strategic business decisions. You will combine hands-on financial management with high-level analysis, ensuring Convil Group remains financially strong, agile, and well-prepared for expansion.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee all financial operations including accounts payable, receivable, payroll, and job cost allocations
- Manage cash flow, budgets, and forecasting to support project delivery and company growth
- Provide accurate and timely financial reporting to the Director and senior leadership team
- Monitor project profitability, cost controls, and risk management across multiple civil projects
- Ensure compliance with statutory requirements including BAS, GST, PAYG, superannuation, and corporate reporting
- Liaise with accountants, auditors, insurers, banks, and regulatory authorities to maintain financial integrity
- Develop and implement financial systems and controls to improve efficiency and transparency
- Support tender submissions, project funding arrangements, and financial negotiations with stakeholders
- Provide commercial insights and recommendations that align financial management with strategic objectives
About You
- Proven experience as a Financial Officer, Finance Manager or Financial Controller, ideally in civil construction or related industries
- Strong technical knowledge of accounting, project costing, and compliance in Australia
- Skilled in budgeting, forecasting, and financial modelling
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting software (Xero, MYOB, or similar)
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organisational skills
- Strong communication skills with confidence to liaise at executive and stakeholder levels
- CPA/CA qualification (highly regarded)
- Must be Sydney-based and hold a valid NSW driver's licence
