Our client, Department of Education, are currently seeking a Project Manager to lead their Financial Management Improvement Project within their Building Infrastructure Services Division.
There are a number of business transformation initiatives underway, or being initiated, to uplift the maturity of business practices that underpin service delivery of Infrastructure Services Division (ISD). The focus of the business transformation initiatives includes portfolio management, financial management, asset management, contract management and information governance & digital enablement.
The role of the Project Manager is to lead the Financial Management Improvement (FMI) Project within the PFMI Program, driving the uplift of financial management processes to achieve greater accuracy, efficiency, and transparency across financial operations.
To achieve this, the Project Manager will apply strong leadership and disciplined project management practices, underpinned by rigorous governance, clear and consistent reporting, and effective stakeholder engagement to embed sustainable ways of working across the division.
Roles and responsibilities include:
- Develop and manage project plans, schedules, and governance documentation.
- Apply fit-for-purpose principles to ensure project management artefacts are practical and usable in ISD's low-maturity environment.
- Use the prescribed PFMI Program PMO services (standards, templates, reporting, and assurance processes) to ensure consistency and alignment
- Provide leadership to and coordinate the activities of the Financial Management Improvement (FMI) project team.
- Manage the project within its financial and non-financial constraints and report progress to the Executive Management Team.
- Proactively identify, document, and manage project risks, issues, and dependencies.
- Work with workstream leads to develop mitigation strategies,
- Act as the central point of contact, facilitating collaboration across teams.
- Identify, document, and manage stakeholder expectations in alignment with project scope.
- Keep key stakeholders informed of project progress, decisions, and impacts.
- Identify and implement opportunities to improve project outcomes.
- Support development of project management tools, templates, and practices that can be sustained beyond the project.

- Excels in stakeholder engagement, demonstrating strong interpersonal skills, effective conflict resolution, and the ability to influence at all levels.
