About the role

We are excited to welcome passionate graduate Maternal and Child Health (MCH) nurses to join our supportive and multidisciplinary team through our Graduate Program.

As a Maternal and Child Health (MCH) Nurse, you'll begin your career in a dynamic environment where no two days are the same. You'll work with families from diverse backgrounds and see firsthand the positive impact of your care on children and the wider community.

In this role, be supported every step of the way by an experienced, multidisciplinary team, including MCH nurses, immunisation nurses, child and family resource officers, lactation consultants, social workers, and a family violence officer. With guidance from a dedicated leadership team and your Team Leader, you'll receive regular supervision, mentoring, and opportunities for professional development.

What your day will look like

  • Developing your skills as you begin delivering Maternal and Child Health services, with support and supervision from experienced colleagues.
  • Building confidence in engaging with families, using a family-centred partnership approach
  • Collaborating closely with a multidisciplinary team and developing your understanding of the different supports available to families.
  • Gaining experience in contributing to referrals, documentation, and reporting, while meeting professional and legislative requirements.
  • Building your confidence and capacity as you put your studies into practice, strengthen your clinical skills, and develop into an independent and confident MCH nurse.

What you will bring

Mandatory Qualifications to practice as a MCH Nurse in Victoria, as outlined in the Position Description –

  • Current registration with AHPRA:
  • Registered Nurse (Division 1)
  • Registered Midwife, and;

In addition to the above registrations, working towards or hold accredited postgraduate Diploma/Degree (or equivalent) in Child and Family Health Nursing with satisfactory course completion by commencement.

  • Completion of (or near completion of) postgraduate studies in Maternal and Child Health Nursing.
  • A genuine interest in working with families from diverse backgrounds, including CALD communities, and a willingness to learn from different perspectives.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build trusting relationships with families and colleagues.
  • Developing confidence in using computer systems, with a willingness to learn MCH programs and digital record-keeping.
  • A current Victorian driver's licence and access to a registered and insured vehicle.
  • A current Employee Working with Children Check.
