About Us:

Sherwood Ag is based at Junee Reefs, NSW. Approx 60km to Wagga Wagga, 20km to Junee, 42km to Temora, 45km to Cootamundra. The business is run over 1350ha. Approx 1000ha of crop annually, and 350 of pasture, to run 2300 breeding ewes (crossbreds and merinos).

The Role:

We are looking to employ a full-time Senior Farm Hand to assist equally with the annual cropping program, as well as with sheep management, and general farm maintenance such as repairs, fencing, sheep yard work and workshop tasks.  As an estimate, the role will be 70% cropping and 30% livestock and/or farm maintenance.  Modern equipment and technology using GPS is employed within the business and maintaining the equipment is part of the role.

Operation of machinery and implements including: boom spray, spreader, air seeder, windrower, harvester as well as other cropping operations throughout the year.

Extended hours will be required during peak months of the cropping program, however, we value the importance of personal and family time and ensure that flexibility and work-life balance is achieved.

The Ideal Candidate:

Cropping experience is preferred

Competent machinery operator with a mechanical aptitude

Strong communication skills and work ethic

Experience with sheep ideally

MR, HR or HC licence (or willingness to gain)

Chemical Certificate (or willingness to gain)

Attention to detail

Ability to follow instructions

Enjoys variety in their job

Ability to work within a team, as well as independently

Physically fit

Some welding ability

This is a full-time position to join the team at Sherwood Ag on a permanent basis, therefore is not suitable for anyone seeking employment for 88 day Working Holiday (417) visa only.
