About the role
We are currently recruiting for a Fleet Technician to join the Operations, People and Safety team based from Orange.
The Fleet Technician participates in the operation of the Fleet Workshop by undertaking trade-based activities required to diagnose, maintain, repair light fleet and plant machinery including Elevated Work Platform's and Crane Borers. These activities can be undertaken both in the workshop and in-field using Mobile Field Service units.
Some key position responsibilities will include:
- Responsible for carrying out diagnostic, specialist testing and fault diagnosis of vehicle compliance requirements to meet industry standards, regulatory and business needs.
- Conduct general mechanical and electrical maintenance repairs plus engineering projects, which include welding, machining, hydraulic, pneumatic and fabrication work.
- Perform general plant work including maintenance, inspection, repairs and adjustments to all fleet assets
- Responsible for vehicle refits, maintenance and repairs.
- Undertake field-based plant and equipment maintenance during planned and unplanned situations.
- Provide mechanical engineering assistance with the fit out and inspections of new vehicles when required.
- Carry out plant and equipment maintenance in accordance with industry and organisational standards.
About you
You bring hands-on experience in the motor and mechanical industry, with strong skills in heavy and light fleet operations, plant equipment, and specialist trades. You're confident working with hydraulics, pneumatics, auto electrics, and fabrication, and understand key industry standards and regulations. Tech-savvy and detail-oriented, you work well independently or in a team, managing priorities and using systems like SAP and Oracle Cloud to keep operations running smoothly.
Required Qualifications
- Certificate III Heavy Commercial Vehicle Mechanical Technology OR Certificate III Light Vehicle Mechanical Technology.
- Current NSW Drivers License (HR).
- WorkCover NSW Construction Induction Cert.
