Your Role

As a Case Worker with Vinnies NSW in Wagga Wagga, you will work directly with individuals and families experiencing or at risk of homelessness. You'll provide tailored support, case management and advocacy to help people access safe accommodation, essential services and the opportunity to build more stable futures.

Your Responsibility
  • Conduct client intakes, assessments and develop case plans.
  • Provide crisis intervention, information, referrals and ongoing support.
  • Advocate on behalf of clients with government agencies, courts and service providers.
  • Undertake home visits with clients in temporary or transitional accommodation.
  • Facilitate connections to life skills and education programs.
  • Maintain accurate client records and case notes. 
  • Create a safe and welcoming environment for all service users.
  • Build partnerships with community services and stakeholders.
  • Support service delivery targets and contribute to continuous improvement.
  • Assist in supervising volunteers and students on placement.
You Will Need
  • A minimum Certificate IV (or current tertiary study) in welfare, community services or a related field.
  • Experience working with people who are homeless or disadvantaged.
  • Strong understanding of issues including family breakdown, mental illness, addiction and social disadvantage.
  • Knowledge of local community support services and ability to foster strong partnerships.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Solid computer and administrative skills.
  • Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively in a team.
  • A current NSW driver licence.
 

Desirable: experience working in a membership-based organisation supporting members and volunteers.
