Job Details

We are seeking a
Senior TM1 System Administrator
to support financial planning and budgeting systems within a major Commonwealth organisation. This role sits within the Corporate Systems team and is responsible for maintaining, optimising, and supporting IBM Cognos TM1 / Planning Analytics — the platform underpinning budgeting, forecasting, and reporting activities across multiple business units.

The successful candidate will bring strong experience in TM1 administration, model development, and process improvement, ensuring the accuracy, performance, and integrity of financial data. You will also engage directly with finance stakeholders, providing technical leadership, advice, and responsive support across budgeting and reporting cycles.

Key Responsibilities

• Administer and enhance TM1 models, cubes, dimensions, and rules to support budgeting, forecasting, and reporting.
• Oversee end-to-end TM1 operations, ensuring system integrity, security, and accuracy of data.
• Streamline budgeting and forecasting processes in collaboration with finance and corporate services teams.
• Design and maintain TM1 applications for operational and capital expenditure reporting.
• Utilise Planning Analytics Workspace to build interactive dashboards and reports.
• Manage user access controls, cost centres, company codes, and approval hierarchies.
• Conduct End of Month, Mid-Year, and End of Financial Year activities in TM1, including SAP uploads.
• Provide technical support and troubleshoot TM1 Excel templates and user queries.
• Partner with IT to perform upgrades, patches, and system enhancements.
• Integrate TM1 with other enterprise systems (SAP, Aurion, and related databases).
• Maintain strong documentation and ensure adherence to financial governance requirements.

Essential Criteria

1. TM1 Administration Expertise

2. 3–5 years' experience in TM1 system administration with knowledge of cubes, dimensions, rules, and TM1 Web.

3. Demonstrated ability to manage day-to-day system operations and performance.

4. Budgeting and Financial Support

5. Proven ability to build and manage financial models for budget and forecasting cycles.

6. Strong experience supporting business areas through budget submissions and adjustments.

7. Process Management

8. Experience finalising End of Month and End of Financial Year processes within TM1.

9. Capability to manage data validation, reconciliations, and month-end close requirements.

10. Analytical and Technical Skills

11. Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with attention to data quality and integrity.

12. Proven experience resolving user issues and ensuring consistency across financial modules.

13. Stakeholder Engagement

14. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

15. Ability to engage effectively with finance, IT, and business users to capture requirements and deliver updates.

Desirable Criteria

• IBM Cognos TM1 / Planning Analytics certification (e.g., IBM Certified Developer – Cognos TM
• Experience building or enhancing
  Capital
  and
  Property
  modules in TM1.
• Knowledge of TM1 integrations with
  SAP
  and
  Aurion
  systems.

  must hold or be eligible to reinstate a Baseline security clearance
  prior to engagement.

Working Arrangements

Hybrid working conditions are available across Canberra, Brisbane, Melbourne, and Sydney offices, with flexibility for remote work. Occasional on-site collaboration may be required.
