Finding better ways to provide the materials the world needs
We are seeking a Superintendent Belts to join our newly formed Shutdowns team within the East Pilbara. This role presents a fantastic opportunity to provide leadership in safely executing conveyor maintenance activities across multiple sites.
You will be part of a supportive and high-performing team, contributing to both personal and team development goals. Your leadership will be instrumental in driving belt performance, minimizing downtime, and ensuring compliance with safety and quality standards.
Working on a 5 days on, 2 days off, 4 days on, 3 days off roster on-site, this opportunity will give you more time to spend on the things that are important to you.
Reporting to the Manager Cranes & Belts, you will:
- Manage safe execution of end-to-end conveyor belt maintenance work including planned, opportune, and breakdown tasks.
- Provide governance and oversight of all Quality Assurance (QA), Quality Control (QC) for conveyor belt maintenance activities
- Integrate with the planning and scheduling teams to ensure effective conveyor maintenance activities and schedule compliance
- Foster a culture of continuous improvement by identifying, evaluating and implementing improvement opportunities utilising a range of Rio Tinto best practices
- Lead, coach and develop a team of Belts personnel to create a driven and motivated workforce
- Ensure maintenance activities are carried out safely, according to plan and cost effectively
- Liaise with site teams to communicate conveyor maintenance intentions and manage improvement projects specific to the site
- Manage a budget and ensure capital and operating funds are allocated correctly within Belts and promote a high level of cost discipline
- Engage in leadership routines and contractor management processes.
- Provide input into business risk processes and asset management plans.
What you'll bring

- Strong Knowledge of fixed plant end-to-end conveyor belt maintenance.
- A Current Western Australian 'C' Class Driver's Licence (Manual)
- Statutory Position Legal Exam – Statutory Supervisor / SSE Qualification
- Strong focus on safety and people leadership aligned with Rio Tinto's core values
- Demonstrated capability in coaching, leading change and effective decision making
- Demonstrate understanding of budget preparation, variance analysis, cost forecasting and cost drivers.
- Ability to adapt to dynamic business needs
- Clear communication across all levels
