About Bonsai Robotics
Bonsai Robotics' mission is to create the next leap forward in agriculture equipment efficiency by creating a new ecosystem of semi-autonomous robotic machinery. Orchards are dusty, hazard-filled, and GPS-denied. The GPS-based autosteer features that have driven row crop efficiencies cannot function in orchards. Our vision, AI, and machine control systems offer human-level environment understanding and local navigation capabilities and will be the platform for a new wave of innovation in agricultural production and management systems. Our state-of-the-art technology empowers orchard managers to optimize their operations, dramatically reduce operational expenses, and increase profitability.
Job Overview:
We are seeking a team player with excellent communication skills who can foster strong relationships with customers, product managers, agronomists, and engineers. If you are driven by innovation, love working in the field, and are eager to contribute to the advancement of agricultural technology, we encourage you to apply for this exciting opportunity.
Bonsai Robotics is headquartered in California in the United States. We have a number of customers based in Australia – so we are building an efficient field operations team to support. The work will involve onboarding growers to the machinery and autonomy, supporting ongoing operations, and interfacing with potential partners (for example equipment dealers.)
The role will involve substantial travel across Australia, including locations such as Robinvale VIC, Griffith NSW and Maryborough QLD among others.
Join our dynamic team and be at the forefront of revolutionizing agriculture with cutting-edge mechatronic machinery.
Your primary responsibility will be to conduct in-field product feature testing, troubleshoot issues on-site, and collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to implement short-term and long-term equipment fixes. You will coordinate logistics for test equipment, execute test plans, perform root cause analysis, and document results in detail. You will also onboard new customers through deployment of robots across a variety of farms and industries.
What you'll do:
- Hands-on involvement in setting up, maintaining, testing, and customizing equipment based on engineering test requirements.
- Conduct comprehensive test plans, evaluating system and feature-related hardware, software, and machine vision components.
- Perform root cause analysis and necessary repairs, documenting each step meticulously for future reference.
- Keep track of issues and progress in resolving them, ensuring transparency and efficient communication.
- Collaborate closely with customers, account managers, and engineers to gather insights and feedback.
- Provide in-field engineering support, collecting data and diagnosing equipment performance to optimize operations.
- Contribute to product enhancement by sharing valuable customer observations, comments, and concerns with our Management and Engineering teams.
- Assist Engineering in creating comprehensive product documentation, instructions, and guides.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree or relevant work experience in Engineering, Agronomy, Ag Systems Technology
- 3 years in supporting / maintaining agricultural electro-mechanical systems
- Experience troubleshooting and working with complex systems involving software, electronics and mechanical systems
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Strong customer-facing skills & team-oriented mindset
- Willingness to travel constantly to the field to provide hands-on support
- Experience with Agricultural and/or Construction equipment and working with large machinery
- Must frequently lift and/or move items over 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move items over 50 pounds.
Bonsai Robotics values diversity, inclusivity, and excellence in hiring and strongly encourages candidates from traditionally underrepresented backgrounds to apply.
