Our client, a well-established construction business based in Sydney, is seeking an experienced and commercially minded
Accountant
to join their finance team. This is an excellent opportunity for a CPA-qualified professional with a strong background in the construction sector to step into a stable, long-term role with a reputable organisation.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare monthly management accounts, financial statements, and detailed project reporting
  • Manage job costing, progress claims, subcontractor payments, retentions, and project cash flow
  • Provide budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis across multiple construction projects
  • Ensure compliance with Australian accounting standards and regulatory requirements
  • Oversee AP/AR, payroll processing, BAS/IAS submissions, and end-of-month processes
  • Liaise with project managers, site teams, and senior leadership to deliver financial insights
  • Support year-end audit processes and continuous improvement initiatives

About You:

  • CPA qualified (mandatory)
  • Experience within the construction or infrastructure industry
  • Strong knowledge of project accounting, job costing, and construction financial workflows
  • Proficiency in accounting systems such as MYOB, Xero, or construction software (e.g., Jobpac, Cheops)
  • Excellent analytical, communication, and stakeholder engagement skills
  • Ability to work independently and manage competing deadlines
