The Housing Infrastructure, Regional Operations team within the Infrastructure Services Division is seeking a dedicated and innovative Director to join their team on a Permanent basis to drive the effective delivery of tenancy and leasing services across one of the largest housing portfolios in Queensland.

About the Role

The Director, Housing Infrastructure reports to the Executive Director, Regional Operations, Infrastructure Delivery and Operations Branch, Infrastructure Services Division.

This position currently leads a workforce of 21 FTE with the support of two managers (direct reports). You will be responsible for leading a dedicated team while overseeing a significant capital program that directly supports regional communities.

The Director, Housing Infrastructure will be accountable for and lead duties associated with the role that includes:

  • Provide strategic leadership by setting direction, driving performance and motivating teams to deliver results across one of Queensland's largest and most complex housing portfolios.
  • Oversee the delivery of capital programs and lead business transformation initiatives, including the design and implementation of technology solutions that improve efficiency and service outcomes.
  • Manage the emerging and ongoing operational aspects of DoE's teacher housing portfolio.
  • Manage the administration of the establishment, registration, recording and amendment of tenancy agreements for teachers, ensuring compliance with tenancy legislation, government policy frameworks, and governance requirements, while actively managing risk across the portfolio.
  • Manage the administration of the rental collections for our customers through payroll deduction for all DoE teacher housing, as well as supporting Local Accommodation Committees in the performance of their tenancy management role.
  • Build strong, collaborative relationships and networks with a diverse range of stakeholders including school principals, community representatives, other Government departments and unions to enhance lease and tenancy management.
  • Maintain and validate the built asset data associated with the department's asset management system for Queensland state schools.
  • Critically analyse, review and refine systems and processes in line with continuous improvement practices to ensure the ongoing alignment with changing business or policy requirements.
  • Support the development and implementation of applicable human resource and financial management initiatives and strategies, and incorporate innovative solutions to complex issues, to support the division's strategic direction.
  • Manage financial and budgetary oversight, including developing annual budgets, reports and preparing high-level submissions and briefs to inform executive and Ministerial decision making.
  • Represent the department at forums and working groups.
  • This role may require travel.

About You

Although not mandatory, a formal qualification in business or public service management is beneficial.

To be successful in the role of Director, Housing Infrastructure, you will possess experience in housing management and administration, facilities system information management, human resource management, stakeholder engagement and financial management.
