EXPRESSIONS OF INTEREST FOR SKILLS BASED DIRECTORS

The First Nations Bailai, Gurang, Gooreng Gooreng, Taribelang Bunda People Development Corporation Ltd. (DevCo.) is seeking expressions of interest from suitably qualified individuals for Skills Based Directors on the Board of Directors.

The Board will consider candidates who possess particular skills, experience and expertise that will best complement the Board's effectiveness at that time. In particular, the Board is seeking the following highly desirable skills:

Accounting/Tax

Cultural Heritage

Anthropology

Biodiversity/ Environmental Management

Grants & Fundraising

Financial Planning /Investment

Legal & Advocacy

Financial management

Government Representation

Human Resources

Marketing/ Business Development

Legislative Experience

In its evaluation of candidates, the Board will have regard to:

1.      Ability to demonstrate cultural safety, which is creating an environment that is safe for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander People;

2.      Background, experience, knowledge and engagement in the community, or willingness to acquire the knowledge, professional skills and qualifications;

3.      Have completed a Corporate Governance Course or be willing to complete one during the first 12 months of their appointment.

4.      Experience and competence in business including financial literacy or willingness to acquire the knowledge, professional skills and qualifications;

5.      Ability to analyse information, think strategically and review and challenge management in order to make informed decisions and assess performance;

6.      Good communication skills and ability to work harmoniously with fellow directors and management;

7.      Willingness to devote the required time, including being available to attend Board and Committee meetings;

8.      High levels of personal and professional integrity and confidentiality;

The results of checks undertaken as to the candidate's character, experience, education, criminal record and bankruptcy history.
