'New opening for a manual V&V test engineer with the specialist deep tech division of a global engineering conglomerate. Its main focus is the verification and validation of sophisticated software and systems for a range of state-of-the-art products.

The role would suit someone with at least 3 to 4 years of manual verification and validation experience and a keen eye for detail who enjoys creating well-constructed test cases, running rigorous tests for critical systems, and providing a high level of documentation. As an integral part of a small V&V team, you'll work closely with project management and software engineering across a range of products and projects. The focus is on manual testing (around 75 per cent) with a smaller percentage of automation testing. Prior experience with C++ or high-tech products involving both hardware and software would be preferred.

Essential

  • A relevant degree (e.g., computer science, electronic or mechatronic engineering)
  • An in-depth understanding of software engineering processes and methodologies
  • At least three years' experience in manual testing
  • Some test automation experience
  • Sound experience with scripting languages such as Python, Perl or Lua
  • Experience testing software systems/subsystems for high-tech products
  • Experience with Xray for Jira (or similar test management software)
  • Familiarity with Gitlab, Jira, Confluence, Jenkins and DOORS (or equivalents)
  • A good working knowledge of Windows and Linux OSs
  • Australian citizenship (sensitive technology)

Optional

  • Experience testing modern C++ code
  • Experience with embedded or mixed electronics/software systems
  • Experience in a regulated industry sector (e.g., defence, biomedical, automotive, payments)
