About the Role

At Aptella, we believe that innovation thrives when it's driven by diverse perspectives. We're currently looking for a Field Service Technician to join our team in Dandenong South on a full-time, permanent basis.

Reporting to the Field Service Manager, this role offers a great mix of hands-on technical work and customer engagement. You'll play a key part in installing and supporting Machine Control Systems and site solutions, including 2D/3D automation, machine payload weighing, and machine safety systems. While most of your work will be completed onsite, there may be times when you provide remote or phone-based support as well.

What You'll Be Doing:

  • Install machine control systems and equipment (onsite and in the workshop)

  • Calibrate and commission machine systems and attachments

  • Diagnose issues and provide technical support and troubleshooting

  • Service and maintain systems to ensure peak performance

  • Train customers to get the most out of their equipment

What We're Looking For:

We understand that great technicians come from a variety of paths. If you don't meet every requirement but are keen to learn and passionate about what we do, we'd love to hear from you.

  • A trade qualification as an Auto Electrician, Heavy Diesel Mechanic, or Light Vehicle Mechanic is highly regarded, but not essential

  • A strong mechanical aptitude, with the ability to problem-solve and adapt

  • Confidence in working with electrical and hydraulic systems

  • Good communication and organisation skills to engage effectively with customers and teammates

  • A proactive mindset with a focus on safety, quality, and outcomes

  • Basic computer literacy and the ability to learn new software

  • Ability to work independently with support when you need it

Nice to Have (But Not Required):

  • Experience with heavy equipment repairs (mechanical, electrical, or hydraulic)

  • Exposure to mobile plant or machine control systems

  • An understanding of surveying techniques and technologies

  • A keen interest in technology and innovation

Required:

  • A current Australian Driver's Licence (car)
