Head of Special Education Services

An exciting opportunity exists for a passionate and dedicated educator to join the senior leadership team at Cavendish Road State High School as (HOSES).

In this role, you will lead the school's inclusion initiatives, enhance the quality of teaching and learning, and play a pivotal role in delivering the strategic vision of the school and department.

You will manage and coordinate support for students with a range of complexities, including visual and physical impairments and complex ASD, ensuring their individual needs are met through a culture of inclusivity and collaboration.

This position offers the opportunity to lead with impact, collaborating with the Inclusion team to deliver high-quality, student-focused programs while maintaining a strong emphasis on fostering an inclusive and supportive school environment.

Inclusion Leadership:

Lead the Inclusion/Special Education Program, ensuring the delivery of high-quality advice and support to classroom teachers, students, and families. Collaborate closely with the Head of Department - Inclusion and his team to implement and sustain school-wide inclusive practices.

Targeted Support and Case Management:

Drive and coordinate case management for students requiring extensive or substantial adjustments, delivering targeted teaching interventions to support their learning and development.

Collaborative Engagement:

Build and maintain partnerships with parents, government agencies, and community groups to enhance the support network for students with disabilities. Provide high-level advice and guidance to the leadership team and school staff to plan and implement effective reasonable adjustments.

System Implementation and Data Management:

Implement and manage school-wide systems, including data tracking and the Nationally Consistent Collection of Data on School Students with Disability (NCCD), to monitor student progress and inform strategic decision-making.

Resource Management:

Manage human, financial, facilities, and curriculum resources to achieve inclusion goals, ensuring sustainable and effective service delivery.
