About the role:

This market-leading practice is seeking a Senior Associate or Special Counsel to join its Sydney team, focusing on historical sexual abuse claims and associated complex institutional matters. The practice is at the forefront of this evolving area, advising insurers, government, and institutions on some of the most sensitive and high-profile claims in the country.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Managing complex litigation and advisory matters, with a strong focus on historical sexual abuse and fraud claims.
  • Leading and mentoring junior lawyers, while driving strategy on sophisticated matters.
  • Working directly with leading partners and clients on multi-party, high-exposure litigation.
  • Building your practice within a team offering a genuine pathway to partnership.
  • This role is ideal for a driven Senior Associate or Special Counsel ready to take the next step or for a Partner seeking a global platform to elevate their practice.

The ideal candidate:

  • 6+ years' PQE in abuse, institutional, or complex insurance litigation (SA–Partner level).
  • Expertise in historical sexual abuse and sensitive institutional claims.
  • Proven ability to manage high-value, multi-party litigation with autonomy.
  • Strong leadership skills with a focus on mentoring junior lawyers.
  • Commercially astute with the ability to build client relationships and contribute to practice growth.
