About the role:
The Manager, Health Service Performance leads the team responsible for coordinating and leading performance meetings and cross-departmental assessments, managing complex performance and governance issues, and driving strategic interventions, including monitoring activity-based funding to compare and price hospital services (NWAU), target-setting, and productivity initiatives across health services. The role requires a strong leader, capable of leading high quality health service engagement, enduring cross department buy-in and representation, and with the organisational nous to strategically set the department's performance management calendar.
The role involves developing effective relationships with a range of internal and external stakeholders including health service executives and a range of program and policy areas within the department.
As a leadership position, the role involves managing multiple staff throughout the employment lifecycle, including performance, development, recruitment, and staff safety and wellbeing responsibilities. The role requires sound leadership and people management skills, as well as an ability to influence others to maximise efficiency and effectiveness of the Victorian health workforces and improve outcomes for Victorians.

About you:
Can you demonstrate the following?
- Lead on the implementation of the department's Performance Monitoring Framework
- Lead, support and develop a high-performing team, fostering a collaborative culture, setting clear expectations, having strong quality control, and ensuring delivery of strategic and operational objectives
- Identify and actively manage emerging areas of risk to hospital and health service performance across output areas and performance domains
- Build and maintain strong, collaborative relationships across the department and with health services to drive performance improvement and ensure safe, high-quality, and financially sustainable service delivery
- Coordinate departmental responses to major and multi-faceted performance, governance, and safety and quality issues affecting hospitals and health services
Qualifications / Specialist Expertise
Qualifications
- An appropriate tertiary qualification in health, accounting, commerce, economics, political science, public administration or public policy. Post tertiary qualification in a relevant field would be advantageous.
Specialist Expertise
- A high degree of understanding and knowledge of the Victorian health system, relevant departmental systems and environments and the ability to build increased capability in others.
