Sydney, New South Wales, Australia Nutroaster Full time $80,000 - $90,000 per year

Nut Roaster Co Pty Ltd is a family owned and operated business with over forty years of history, specialising in the wholesale and manufacture of gourmet roasted nuts. Our passion is to bring Australians the very best in quality foods — from premium nuts and beans to legumes, dried fruits, Middle Eastern groceries and more.

We're more than just a food manufacturer — we're a tight-knit team rooted in tradition, committed to quality, and proud of the work we do. As our company continues to grow, we're seeking a skilled and driven Accountant to join us. In this role, you'll contribute to accurate financial reporting and help guide smart, informed business decisions.

As our Accountant, you will be responsible for overseeing the full scope of month-end activities, preparing accurate financial reports, and managing budgeting, forecasting, and continuous process enhancements. About the Opportunity:

  • Lead and manage the month-end closing process, including preparation of bank reconciliations, general journals, accruals, prepayments, and inter-company reconciliations
  • Prepare, review, and present accurate financial statements in line with relevant accounting standards
  • Perform detailed variance analysis comparing actual results against budgets and forecasts, providing insights to support decision-making
  • Support year-end processes, including reconciliations, external audits, and compliance reporting
  • Ensure accurate, timely recording of all financial transactions in accordance with company policies
  • Review and maintain balance sheet integrity by identifying and resolving discrepancies
  • Collaborate with department managers to develop and refine annual budgets and periodic forecasts
  • Conduct cost-benefit and financial analysis to support operational initiatives and identify cost-saving opportunities
  • Provide ad hoc financial support and analysis across departments as required
  • Assist in the development and refinement of internal accounting policies and procedures
  • Ensure compliance with relevant financial regulations and standards
  • Maintain effective internal control systems and contribute to ongoing process improvements
  • Offer financial insights and support strategic planning through data-driven analysis

About You:

  • A minimum of 1 year experience in a finance or accounting role
  • Have a tertiary qualification in Accounting or related field
  • Excellent analytical, organisational, and problem-solving abilities
  • Exceptional attention to detail and a strong focus on accuracy
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and financial software (experience with MYOB Advanced is a plus)
  • Clear and confident communicator with well-developed interpersonal skills
  • Self-motivated and capable of handling multiple tasks and priorities independently
