About the Opportunity

We are looking for an experienced Brand and Communications Manager to lead the Brand and Communications team, have functional ownership of the MIPS brand and be responsible for brand management, the member value proposition and member communications. This role will be accountable for preparing and executing the MIPS marketing plan, including strategic planning, and campaign development, management, delivery, and measurement. The role will also be responsible for managing MIPS external stakeholder communications and internal communications.

This Brand and Communications Manager is part of the Membership Experience Leadership Team, with 2 direct reports, and will work across the organisation to deliver on MIPS Group strategic priorities. This is a 3-month fixed-term contract with full-time hours.

Key Responsibilities

Brand:

  • Lead the Brand and Communications team to design the brand vision and purpose for MIPS.
  • Develop the MIPS brand strategy including
  • Own, evolve and protect the MIPS brand with strong and purposeful brand positioning to inform campaigns. This includes collaborating with the ELT to design & build effective marketing and communication strategies across traditional, social, digital and paid media.
  • Develop and manage business relationships with agencies, institutions and other stakeholders to ensure that marketing and membership initiatives are targeted and achieve their objectives and in accordance with regulations.

Marketing Strategy and Planning:

  • Drive, develop and communicate strategic insights to support the MIPS marketing strategy and plan
  • Develop MIPS marketing strategy and communication plans that are aligned with the MIPS business plan, goals and targets
  • Develop the Member value proposition (MVP) and develop a marketing strategy to communicate the proposition to current and prospective members to drive acquisition and retention.
  • Lead annual planning and forecast updates, and take responsibility for monthly reporting and performance tracking
  • Manage the MIPS marketing budget.

Marketing Communications:

  • Develop and deliver marketing and communication plans, and campaigns to deliver MIPS acquisition and retention targets.
  • Develop and oversea MIPS member experience activity calendar including marketing, events, sponsorship and internal communications
  • Design and develop creative and copy for all marketing channels to maximise brand consideration and quote conversion.
  • Develop and deliver a digital marketing strategy (across paid, owned and earned channels) including content strategy, development, and management
  • Design and plan direct marketing campaigns including targeting, personalisation of messages and measurability; data analysis, customer profiling and segmentation
  • Provide marketing support for all MIPS events and sponsorships

External Stakeholder Engagement and Communications:

  • Provide marketing support to build MIPS relationships with external stakeholders such as medical colleges and associations, regulators, hospitals and universities.
  • Build and refine targeted communication messages for key stakeholders that promote MPS and build MIPS reputation as an industry leader
  • Identify and manage MIPS sponsorship partnership to position and promote the MIPS brand

Internal Communication:

  • Collaborate with Head of People & Culture to build an internal communications strategy and framework. This includes consistent alignment to MIPS brand, clear business, and employee focussed communications that align to the Employee value proposition (EVP).
  • Responsible for branding (look and feel) of all internal communications including presentations. Consult with the leaders to understand their needs.
  • Develop an internal communications toolkit that includes policy, standards, processes and review/governance.
  • Delivery of key internal employee events, such as townhalls. Delivery of the internal dissemination of company news, announcements, marketing event calendars and other communications.

Workforce Planning and People Management:

  • Workforce planning and operational management to ensure optimisation of teams, resulting in the right people in the right roles to meet member needs, in line with business requirements and MIPSi/MIPS Service Level Agreements. This includes the prioritisation and allocation of work across the team. Elements such as break times, leave management, training, and coaching conversations need to be factored into forecasting capacity requirements.
  • Enhance team collaboration by providing regular and ongoing feedback and coaching to team members to build individual and team capability.
  • Provide development plans, succession plans, career paths, training needs analysis and support of learning and development for all team members.
  • Support and promote a culture of member focus through open collaboration and challenge.
  • Model positive leadership and individual contributor behaviours including change, risk mitigation and MIPS behaviours.
  • Recruitment and management of FTE and costs in line with employment requirements. This includes managing overtime to budget.

Risk and Commercial Acumen:

  • Manage business outcomes by aligning the team to deliver on goals, KPIs and budgets. This includes operational service levels, member experience, quality, and risk and compliance measures.
  • Champion and contribute to a continuous improvement program to identify areas for innovation, deliver value and simplify processes.
  • Act in accordance with delegation of authority levels.
  • Manage and/or leverage all external vendor relationships to maximise efficient use of resources and in the best commercial interest of MIPS.
  • Manage operational processes and deliverables in line with MIPS risk management and compliance frameworks and relevant regulatory, fraud control, audit and compliance requirements including delivery of internal audit requirements.

About You

Essential Skills and Qualifications:

  • Right to work in Australia
  • Tertiary qualifications in a relevant discipline (Business, marketing, economics communications etc).
  • Demonstrated hands on experience leading a brand and marketing team in a mid-sized organisation.
  • Proven experience and successful contributions as a member of a Membership, Customer or Marketing Leadership Team with significant financial delegations and accountabilities.
  • Ability to lead, motivate and provide quality feedback to employees in a dynamic team environment.
  • Experience in a digital environment, either agency or member or customer focused organisation.
  • Proven ability in Brand management and the use of marketing research to drive success business outcomes.
  • Experience managed advertising and media agencies.
  • Experience in Marketing strategy and developing and executing integrated marketing campaigns.
  • Advanced understanding of digital marketing trends, channels and technologies.
  • Experience with events marketing, promotional items, email marketing and direct mail.
  • Experience in online tools and applications (web presence).
  • Knowledge of programmatic digital advertising and tracking.
  • Advanced written, verbal and visual communication and presentation skills with demonstrated ability to creatively tailor communications to different external market segments and audiences.
  • Demonstrated experience in developing engaging internal communication and training for leaders and employees, ensuring the look and feel is aligned to Brand.
  • Strategic thinking skills, including experience in implementing marketing strategies, inclusive of brand development and digital channels.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, influencing and negotiation skills to facilitate discussion and drive brand and marketing outcomes at all levels in an organisation.
  • Experienced in working closely with and communicating with senior executives.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, including the ability to interpret and maximise the use of sophisticated market research data to develop a customer or member strategy. Includes the ability to use analytics tools to present on insights to Executives.
  • Developed skills in planning and organising brand and marketing functions.
  • Role model being a continuous learner with the ability to remain abreast with the latest approaches to brand, marketing and communications.

Highly Desirable:

  • Demonstrated hands on experience leading a brand and marketing team in a large organisation.
  • Experience working in an APRA regulated or another regulated environment.
  • Post graduate qualification in relevant discipline (Business, marketing, communications etc).
  • RG 146 compliant.
