About the Role

We are seeking a Lead Mechanical Engineer to join our Adelaide team. This is a rarely offered leadership role that provides an opportunity to drive technical excellence, grow client relationships, and mentor the next generation of engineers in a supportive environment.

You will lead the delivery of projects across a wide range of sectors including Defence, Health, Education, and Infrastructure, working closely with clients, contractors and Lucid's national network under our One Lucid ethos.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the Adelaide mechanical engineering team across multiple projects, ensuring quality and timely delivery.
  • Build and maintain strong client relationships, contributing to business development and securing repeat work.
  • Provide technical leadership, coaching, and mentoring to emerging professionals.
  • Undertake design, documentation, and consulting tasks for a diverse range of mechanical services system technologies.
  • Carry out advanced mechanical and computational calculations.
  • Ensure compliance with Australian Standards, the National Construction Code and all other relevant codes and regulations.
  • Oversee and review work prepared by other engineers, maintaining Lucid's quality assurance standards.
  • Manage project budgets and support commercial outcomes.
  • Attend project meetings and site inspections, preparing reports and technical documentation.
  • Represent Lucid at industry events and contribute to the growth of our market presence.

About You

You are a technically strong and people-focused engineer who thrives in a leadership role and enjoys driving both project and team outcomes.

  • A minimum of 8+ years' experience in building services mechanical engineering.
  • Proven experience in leading teams and projects within a consulting environment.
  • Australian-recognised degree in Mechanical Engineering or Building Services.
  • Excellent communication and client engagement skills.
  • Australian Citizenship (mandatory for Defence projects).
  • Chartered Engineer (CPEng) or in the process of obtaining.
  • Experience with REVIT (preferred) and AutoCAD.
  • Strong understanding of Quality Assurance systems and the National Construction Code and Australian Standards.
