About the Role

Reporting to the Hardware Design Manager, the Mechanical Design Engineer will play a pivotal role in delivering high-quality mechanical engineering design and drafting support across our operations and project environments. The position encompasses technical involvement throughout the entire product lifecycle — from concept development and prototyping through to product introduction, manufacturing support, and continuous improvement initiatives.

Key responsibilities include:

• Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to define and refine design parameters and project requirements.
• Develop conceptual sketches, detailed 3D CAD models, and 2D engineering drawings for mechanical housings, fixtures, and assemblies.
• Ensure all designs are optimized for usability, functionality, manufacturability, and assembly (DFMA) principles.
• Research, evaluate, and specify appropriate materials for product development and manufacturing processes.
• Coordinate prototype fabrication, verification testing, and performance evaluations.
• Support and guide the design and improvement of manufacturing tools, jigs, and equipment.
• Manage mechanical design documentation and changes throughout the full product lifecycle.

About You

This exciting opportunity will suit an experienced Mechanical Engineer seeking to broaden their technical expertise within our team based at Mawson Lakes. You will have demonstrated success in delivering complex mechanical engineering solutions within an operational or cross-functional project environment.

To be successful, you will hold a degree in Mechanical, Mechatronics, or a related engineering discipline, and have proven experience in 3D modelling and mechanical design, ideally with SolidWorks or similar CAD software. Proficiency with both plastic and metal fabrication techniques will be highly regarded, as will strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and a hands-on approach to engineering challenges.

You will bring excellent communication and collaboration abilities, enabling you to work effectively within multidisciplinary teams.
