The Role
As an Integrated Logistics Support (ILS) Officer within the High Frequency Sensing Systems Program Officer (HFSSPO), you will play a critical role in sustaining our world leading Jindalee Over the Horizon Radar Network (JORN).
You will be part of a high-performing team responsible for ensuring logistics compliance, governance, and assurance across complex sustainment activities. Your work will directly contribute to the operational readiness and long-term viability of JORN by managing logistics processes, financial transactions, and stakeholder engagement.
This role operates within a dynamic and technically complex environment, requiring a proactive and detail-oriented approach to managing through-life support activities. You will work closely with internal teams and external contractors to deliver reliable, cost-effective, and compliant logistics support aligned with Defence objectives.
Key responsibilities include:
- Lead and support logistics audits, stocktakes, and compliance reviews to ensure adherence to Defence standards.
- Develop, implement, and continuously improve logistics processes, procedures, and documentation.
- Provide expert advice on materiel logistics, support contracts, and procurement policy.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and external stakeholders to resolve logistics issues and improve service delivery.
- Manage financial logistics tasks including purchase orders, invoice processing, goods receipting, and reconciliation.
- Operate within Defence finance and ILS systems to ensure accurate and timely transactions.

The High Frequency Sensing Systems Program Office (HFSSPO) is an exciting environment to work in, offering rewarding opportunities in world leading capabilities and emerging technologies. HFSSPO acquires, sustains, and exports High Frequency radar capabilities for the Australian Defence Force. This includes the world leading Jindalee Over the Horizon Radar.

Our Ideal Candidate
We are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented logistics practitioner who thrives in complex, high-stakes environments. You will bring a strong understanding of Defence logistics, procurement, and financial systems, along with the ability to manage competing priorities and deliver outcomes that support critical capability sustainment.
You are someone who takes initiative, works collaboratively, and communicates effectively with a wide range of stakeholders. You understand the importance of compliance, governance, and continuous improvement in a Defence context, and you apply this knowledge to ensure operational excellence.
To Succeed in this role you will have:
- Demonstrated experience in logistics support, preferably within Defence or a similarly complex organisation.
- Strong working knowledge of Defence logistics systems and financial processes.
- Experience in procurement, contract support, and inventory management.
- Ability to lead and support audits, stocktakes, and compliance reviews.
- Skilled in managing purchase orders, invoice processing, and goods receipting.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to provide clear advice and documentation.
- Experience in developing and refining logistics procedures and documentation.
- Understanding of through-life support principles and sustainment planning.
