About The Role

The Department is urgently seeking a APS6 – EL1 Procurement Specialists to contribute to Australia's bid to host a prestigious international climate summit. This is an opportunity to deliver innovative, high-value procurement solutions that uphold the highest standards of governance, probity, and compliance, within a fast-paced environment with both national and international visibility.

Contract Duration:June 30, x 12 months

Requirements:

Key Responsibilities – APS6 Level:

  • Deliver end-to-end procurement in line with Commonwealth Procurement Rules (CPRs) and legislation.
  • Provide advice on procurement strategies, policy, and contract management.
  • Support tender processes, including documentation, evaluation, and negotiations.
  • Prepare procurement documentation, contracts, plans, and evaluation reports.
  • Engage with stakeholders to maintain clear communication and resolve issues.
  • Monitor contract performance, manage variations, and maintain accurate records.
  • Drive continuous improvement of procurement processes and tools.

Key Responsibilities – EL1 Level:

  • Lead high-value, complex procurement projects critical to the summit.
  • Develop strategic procurement plans ensuring value, compliance, and risk control.
  • Provide authoritative advice to senior leaders on strategy, market engagement, and contracts.
  • Negotiate with suppliers to achieve best-value outcomes with fairness and probity.
  • Oversee end-to-end procurement, ensuring robust governance and documentation.
  • Mentor and develop team capability.
  • Represent procurement in high-level meetings and industry engagement.
  • Identify opportunities for innovation and efficiency.

Experience & Skills – APS6 Level:

  • Proven government or complex organisational procurement experience.
  • Strong knowledge of CPRs and related policies.
  • Organisational skills to manage multiple procurement's concurrently.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication.
  • Strong stakeholder engagement and negotiation skills.

Experience & Skills – EL1 Level:

  • Significant experience leading major, high-profile procurement projects.
  • Deep understanding of procurement legislation, policy, and risk management.
  • Strategic thinking, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Leadership experience mentoring and guiding teams.
  • Advanced stakeholder management, including senior executive engagement.
