The Opportunity

We are seeking aMining Contracts Superintendent, to support our client's open cut mining operations in Queensland.  This is a casual contract position for a duration of 3 to 6 months, on a 10/4 day roster. Flights and accommodation are provided.

The role is responsible for ensuring that contractors engaged within the mining department are managed in line with the company's Contractor Management System and that they deliver their assigned scope of work.

What the Role Entails:

• Ensure compliance with Risk Management Framework for Critical Control Owner
• Deliver year on year improvements to contractor performance, whether that be safety, culture or volume.
• Scope creep is identified, managed and escalated when required.
• Deliver and/or exceed volume in line with overburden contract
• Forecasted spend profile is developed monthly and in-line with budget assumptions, escalate out of budget spend as required.
• Compliance to the company's Contractor Management System – Cost, Volume and Risk
• Manage contract & adhoc mining spend to deliver on mining KPI's
• Uphold company's behavioral expectations and positively contribute to the Mining departments ongoing cultural improvement
• Contribute to the development of the annual Mining budgeting process
• Contribute to the development of the Capital plan and expenditure
• Positively contribute to the Mining Departments Safety, Cost and Volume outcomes

What You Will Need:

• Relevant Qualification – Mining Related qualifications
• Minimum 5 years of experience on a similar position
• Understanding of fleet management and machine guidance systems)
• Understanding of Mine Planning principles
• Budgeting and forecasting
• Contract management
• Cost management and cost planning
• Design and implementation of mine operating systems
• Integration of contract & mine operating systems
• Understanding on developing a mining contractor management system
• Developing a contractor risk management system
• The ability to gain credibility and influence front line operational workforce through being a motivated, engaged and supportive leader
• Ability to interrogate mine planning inputs / outputs and provide opportunities to optimise
• Strong understanding and capability in safety culture and leadership concepts. This includes practical application of risk assessment, incident management and investigation techniques
• Demonstrated experience in leading diverse operational teams
• Actively pursue opportunities to reduce operating costs and increase productivity through the application of policies and procedures, business systems, human and financial resources
• Ability to influence and reach agreed solutions with internal and external stakeholders
• Ability to engage and influence with all levels of the organisation
• Demonstrated ability to select, develop, coach and mentor employees resulting in improved engagement, diversity and organisational capability
• Performance, cost & risk management of Tier 1 contract
• Build, maintain & improve management systems
