Role Description

This is an on-site contract role for a weekend Ballet Teacher at 6th Position Dance Studio in Canberra. The Dance Educator will lead dance classes for adults, providing instruction, guidance, and encouragement to students of varying skill levels. Responsibilities include planning and delivering engaging dance lessons, selecting appropriate music, demonstrating and teaching dance techniques, and fostering a positive and inclusive learning environment. Additional tasks may include collaborating with studio staff and participating in studio events.

Qualifications

  • Experience in Dance Instruction and Dance Education
  • Proficiency in Teaching methods and skills specific to adult learners
  • Strong foundational knowledge and skill in Dance and Music
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to inspire and support students
  • Passion for fostering inclusivity and empowerment through the arts
  • Prior experience teaching adults in a dance setting is highly desirable
  • Relevant certifications or qualifications in dance or education are a plus

We offer a flexible work environment, acknowledging that dance teachers often have other 9-5 jobs. Many of our teachers work on a rotating 4-week schedule to ensure adequate planning and rest time. We provide a library of resources and share lesson plans with each other as well as having two paid staff planning days per year.
