Role Description

This is a full-time hybrid role for an Issuing & Acquiring Technical Business Analyst, located in Sydney.

The Technical Business Analyst will engage in gathering and analyzing business requirements, conducting business process assessments, and performing systems analysis. The role requires working closely with stakeholders to ensure technical solutions meet business needs while handling day-to-day project management tasks and facilitating communication among team members.

Qualifications

Position Summary

We are looking for an experienced
Merchant Acquiring Payments Specialist
to support the operational and technical onboarding, integration, and ongoing support of merchants within our acquiring ecosystem. This role requires strong domain expertise in
merchant acquiring
,
API-based integration
, and a solid understanding of the regulatory and operational frameworks involving
Payment Facilitators (PFACs)
and
Third-Party Providers (TPPs)
. The successful candidate will play a critical role in delivering scalable, compliant, and seamless acquiring solutions to merchants and partners.

Key Responsibilities

• Support the development of the
  end-to-end merchant onboarding process
  , including due diligence, KYC/KYB reviews, and risk assessment in line with regulatory and acquiring partner requirements.
• Oversee and coordinate
  technical integrations
  , including API onboarding, certification, and troubleshooting with merchants, PFACs, and TPPs.
• Serve as the subject matter expert on
  merchant acquiring schemes
  (Visa, Mastercard, eftpos, AMEX, etc.) and ensure compliance with scheme rules and industry regulations.
• Collaborate with product, technology, and compliance teams to enhance
  merchant experience
  , ensuring the integration and settlement processes are efficient and secure.
• Work closely with third-party service providers (gateways, platforms, and aggregators) to manage performance, onboarding, and service-level expectations.
• Support the delivery and maintenance of documentation for internal and external stakeholders, including API guides, boarding processes, and compliance requirements.
• Monitor transaction flows, merchant settlements, and exception handling in real-time and batch processing environments.
• Stay abreast of evolving
  regulatory requirements
  (e.g. AUSTRAC, RBA, ASIC),
  card scheme mandates
  , and
  industry developments
  to proactively manage impacts.

Key Skills and Experience

• 7+ years' experience in
  merchant acquiring
  ,
  payment processing
  , or a similar role in fintech, banking, or PSP environments.
• Strong knowledge of
  API-based acquiring integrations
  , onboarding processes, and transaction lifecycle.
• Experience working with acquirers, PSPs, and payment gateways on merchant set-up, pricing, settlement, and risk monitoring.
• Familiarity with
  scheme compliance
  (e.g. PCI DSS, card brand rules, chargeback management).
• Strong analytical skills and the ability to work with transaction data, reporting tools, and reconciliation systems.
• Proven experience managing multiple merchant integration projects simultaneously.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills for technical and non-technical stakeholders.
