Your Opportunity:

  • Work collaboratively with headspace to support a seamless service experience for adolescents and young adults years) with Mental Health and Specialised Services (MHSS) needs, accessing headspace services, consistent with a no wrong door policy and providing the right service at the right time.
  • Maximise clinician availability and build essential relationships by being physically co-located with headspace, as much as is practical.
  • Provide an important bridge to the broader state health system to improve access and decrease transitional service gaps.
  • Establish or embed a dedicated capacity for MHSS clinicians to work across the historical service boundary between child and youth mental health services and adult mental health services.

What we're looking for:

Clinical Expertise

  • Demonstrated specialist knowledge, skills and experience relevant to the evidence-based assessment, diagnosis and treatment of adolescents and young adults aged 12 to 25 experiencing serious and/or complex MHSS issues.
  • Demonstrated provision of specialist adolescent and young adult clinical expertise and apply independent professional judgement based on valid and reliable evidence in a consultation-liaison and clinical in-reach model.

Communication

  • Demonstrated ability to provide mental health clinical advice to professional and operational supervisors regarding service delivery and improvement opportunities.

Clinical Ability

  • Demonstrated ability to provide care and management to consumers of a complex nature, where established principles, procedures and methods require some expansion, adaptation or modification.

Leadership

  • Demonstrated broad understanding of the continuum of care and the organisational provision of a multidisciplinary health service across WBHHS and Headspace.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Nursing:
    Mandatory possession of a nursing qualification from a registered tertiary institution or completion of an approved hospital training program and Registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency with a current annual practicing certificate is essential.
  • Psychologists:
    Mandatory possession of a qualification from a registered tertiary institution as a Psychologist and Registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency with a current annual practicing certificate is essential.
  • Occupational Therapists:
    Mandatory possession of a qualification from a registered tertiary institution as an Occupational Therapist and Registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency with a current annual practicing certificate is essential.
  • Social Workers:
    Mandatory possession of a recognised degree in Social Work, and eligibility for membership with the Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW). Eligibility is dependent on the candidate having completed a University level Social Work degree accredited by the AASW and that the candidate does not have any other outstanding professional competency or ethical issues or complaints known to the AASW which may preclude membership.
  • Appointment to this position requires proof of qualification and if applicable registration or membership with the appropriate registration authority or association. Certified copies of the required information must be provided to the appropriate supervisor/manager, prior to the commencement of clinical duties.
  • Blue Card:
    Potential applicants are advised that the Commission for Children and Young People and Child Guardian Act requires Queensland Health to seek a 'working with children check' from the Commission for Children and Young People and Child Guardian prior to appointment to this position. Your appointment to the position is subject to the Commission for Children and Young People and Child Guardian issuing you with a favourable suitability notice. Queensland Health will meet the cost of this check and future renewals.

Our offer:
You will receive a competitive remuneration package value up to $82,106 p.a., comprising salary rates between $ $72.58 p.h. (Nurse Grade 7), or remuneration package value up to $78,680 p.a., comprising salary rates between $ $69.55 p.h. (HP4), employer contribution to superannuation (up to 12.75%) and annual leave loading (17.5%) (Nurse Grade 7/HP4) (Permanent Part Time, 38 hours p.f., and Temporary Part Time Positions, 38 hours p.f., from date of appointment for 6 months with the possibility of extension.
