We are now seeking a skilled and motivated Ventilation Engineer to join our expanding Technical Services team.

About the Role

Reporting to the Senior Ventilation Engineer, you'll be responsible for ensuring safe and effective underground ventilation throughout the CSA operation. This includes managing airflow and air quality, identifying hazards, and maintaining systems critical to operational safety and performance.

This is a site-based position on an 8:6 FIFO or DIDO roster (residential option available), ideal for a ventilation professional with both strong technical capability and a hands-on, problem-solving mindset.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct regular inspections, monitoring, and testing of underground ventilation systems and workplaces.
  • Ensure compliance with ventilation control plans and TARPs.
  • Undertake air quality surveys (temperature, gas, dust, airflow, contaminants).
  • Develop, maintain and issue ventilation, egress and firing plans.
  • Maintain and update Ventsim models; implement corrective actions where needed.
  • Support ventilation planning up to 3-month level, including shift and weekly plans.
  • Maintain registers of all ventilation devices and ensure calibration of gas measuring equipment.
  • Work closely with Electrical and Projects teams to ensure fans and ventilation infrastructure are operational and maintained.
  • Assist with planning and maintenance of underground services (power, air, and water).
  • Manage Deswik CAD models for underground water and electrical networks.
  • Perform periodic inspections to validate UG services models and provide feedback to the planning team.
  • Participate in on-call roster while on-site.

About You

  • Tertiary qualification in Mining Engineering or equivalent in Mine Ventilation.
  • 2 plus years experience in underground hard rock mining with a strong ventilation focus.
  • Proficiency with mining and ventilation software (Ventsim preferred; Deswik CAD beneficial).
  • Experience conducting ventilation surveys, fault finding, and implementing corrective actions.
  • Understanding of underground mining methods, geotechnical factors, and mine planning.
  • Strong analytical, reporting, and communication skills.
  • Team player with the ability to engage across departments to drive compliance and performance.
