We have an exciting new opportunity as a member of the ICT team, reporting to the Team Lead, Infrastructure Services where you will play a crucial role in identifying, designing, and maintaining the robust security posture of our systems across on premise and cloud environments. This is a key role in a high-performing team which is transforming the way that IT supports researchers and creates capabilities to support collaboration and new ways of work.

You will take a customer first approach and work closely with other members of the team to implement comprehensive network and security controls. This includes reviewing and identifying risk, gap analysis, controls selection, design and implementation of selected controls.

Joining The Kids as a Cyber Security Engineer will include, but not be limited to:

  • Promote and champion integrating security into the software development lifecycle automating security testing and vulnerability management in the CI/CD pipeline.
  • Help foster a "secure by design" culture by collaborating with technical teams to integrate security best practice into their workflows and solutions.
  • Conduct information security incident response processes.
  • Run risk assessment and security tests and designing countermeasures to eliminate as many potential risks as possible.
  • Providing complex technical Cyber Security advice, recommendations and consultancy on networks, infrastructure, products and services supplied.

Based at our modern office in Nedlands, this position will be offered on a permanent, full-time basis.

About You

This position would suit someone who holds a Tertiary qualification in Cyber Security, Computer Science or a related field and has previous experience in a similar role.

Additionally, the key to your success will be your demonstrated experience in the following:

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to identify and mitigate security threats and vulnerabilities.
  • Proficiency with Vulnerability scanning tools, which includes Microsoft and AWS technologies (M365 suite, Defender, AWS Security Hub).
  • Demonstrated ability to be self-motivated, work autonomously and as part of a team, with a flexible, positive and collaborative approach.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including demonstrated interpersonal skills to effectively communicate security-related information to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Strong understanding of security best practices, standards, and regulations, such as ISO 27001, NIST, Australia Privacy Act, and GDPR.
