The Role:

The CIEE Program Assistant role supports CIEE students living and studying in Sydney. They assist in facilitating student activities and events to ensure a quality student experience. This generally includes accompanying student on tours of Sydney and Greater NSW, helping them access Health and Wellbeing Services, and ad hoc administration and logistics.

Five (5) positions available – Temporary Casual roles hours) to provide formal weekend and evening cover when necessary. Contracts effective from November 2025 through February 2026 with the potential of extension into August for the right candidates.

Please Note: Roles will take a brief pause from the 15th to 29th of December.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Assist students with adjusting to living and studying in Sydney.
  • Assist the Student Life Team with coordinating Orientation and Extracurricular activities.
  • Attend and supervise CIEE coordinated activities.
  • Assist students in connecting with activities and events in the Sydney area to enhance their study abroad experience.
  • Communicate and coordinate regularly with the Student Life Team regarding student well-being.
  • Provide support and advice to students on safety and security.
  • Follow the CIEE health and safety protocol in case of an emergency.
  • Other duties as directed.

What we're looking for

  • Experience coordinating student experience and/or community engagement initiatives.
  • Extensive knowledge of Sydney.
  • Familiarity and interest in US culture and study abroad experience is desirable.
  • Ability to coordinate multiple ongoing tasks and priorities to deliver timely, accurate quality outcomes.
  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Current working with children check or willingness to apply for one before commencing the job.

Additional Skills and Experience:

  • Confidence to effectively lead student groups under pressure, to schedule and, at times, independently.
  • Ability to work well within the highly collaborative and tightly coordinated structure of CIEE.
  • Maintain CIEE commitment to providing and preserving a safe and supportive environment in which individual ideas and uniqueness are recognized, valued and given the opportunity to grow.
  • Superior judgment when dealing with confidential information and evolving challenges unique to the student experience.
