About the Organisation This NSW State Government agency delivers safe, reliable, and customer-focused transport services across the greater Sydney metropolitan area. The organisation's mission is to keep Sydney moving by maintaining world-class infrastructure, ensuring operational excellence, and driving continuous improvement across all asset management functions.

The Asset Management Division is responsible for ensuring the long-term sustainability, performance, and reliability of the state's transport assets — from critical rail infrastructure and Metro systems to complex mechanical, electrical, and signalling assets.

The Opportunity We are seeking two experienced Senior Engineering Analysts to join the Technical Maintenance Plans (TMP) team within a leading NSW State Government agency. These roles will play a vital part in supporting the reliability, safety, and performance of major Metro and rail infrastructure assets across the network.

As a Senior Engineering Analyst, you will review, develop, and implement Technical Maintenance Plans (TMPs) and manage the Reliability Centred Maintenance (RCM) database to ensure decisions are traceable, evidence-based, and aligned with government safety and reliability standards.

The positions cover a wide range of disciplines, including Infrastructure, Civil, Track, Facilities, Fleet, Mechanical, Electrical, and Signalling — offering the chance to work on some of the most technically advanced Metro projects in NSW.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and facilitate technical workshops with multi-disciplinary teams to develop and refine Maintenance Requirements Analyses (FMECA, RCM, PMO) and TMPs.
  • Conduct field quality assessments to evaluate maintenance effectiveness and asset reliability.
  • Investigate and analyse adverse performance trends and failure data to identify improvement opportunities.
  • Maintain data accuracy across technical databases and record-keeping systems.
  • Prepare technical reports and communicate recommendations to senior management and stakeholders.
  • Participate in design reviews and type approvals to ensure maintainability and operational integrity.
  • Evaluate new and proposed designs to assess maintenance implications and cost impacts.

Key Challenges

  • Keeping current with evolving maintenance technologies, policies, and standards.
  • Managing competing project priorities while ensuring technical rigour and cost effectiveness.
  • Achieving alignment and collaboration across diverse stakeholder groups and technical teams.

About You You are a balanced professional — bringing 50% strong technical skills and 50% exceptional people skills. You combine analytical thinking with effective communication and organisation, making you a trusted advisor and collaborative leader.

You thrive in multi-disciplinary environments, can translate technical complexity into clear direction, and know how to engage stakeholders at every level to deliver tangible outcomes.

Essential Requirements

  • Degree in a relevant Engineering discipline (or eligibility for Graduate Membership with Engineers Australia), or Certificate IV/Diploma in a related field.
  • Demonstrated experience in Failure Mode, Effects and Criticality Analysis (FMECA) and Reliability Centred Maintenance (RCM).
  • Experience working in infrastructure or Metro environments with complex systems such as civil, mechanical, electrical, signalling, or fleet assets.
  • Proven ability to analyse data and translate insights into practical maintenance strategies.
  • White Card and Rail Industry Worker (RIW) card – mandatory.
  • (For signalling roles): Qualified Signal Electrician with eligibility to obtain a License to Practice as a Signal Engineer (Field).

Why Join This NSW Government Team

  • Work on landmark Metro and infrastructure projects shaping Sydney's future.
  • Collaborate with experienced engineering professionals across multiple disciplines.
  • Competitive daily rate: $1,200–$1,400 + super.
  • Hybrid work model – 4 days on-site, 1 day WFH.
  • Immediate start with 6- and 12-month contract options and potential for extension.

Apply now to join a high-performing State Government team delivering world-class reliability, safety, and performance across the Metro network.
