The Opportunity:

  • Part-Time 0.9 EFT | Ongoing contract of employment
  • TL $85,644 - $121,462 per annum pro rata + 12% super + leave loading (dependent on qualifications and experience)
  • Chadstone Campus – onsite parking with close proximity to public transport

The Design and Finishing Trades Department at Holmesglen delivers a diverse range of programs spanning fashion and interior design, furniture manufacturing and upholstery, trowel trades, painting, and printing. Our offerings support students across various stages of their educational journey, with qualifications ranging from Certificate II through to advanced diplomas and degree-level programs.

Each discipline within the department maintains strong connections with relevant industry groups and professional associations, ensuring that our curriculum remains current, practical, and aligned with evolving industry standards. This collaborative approach enhances student learning outcomes and strengthens pathways to employment across the design and finishing trades.

This role offers a rewarding opportunity to contribute to the delivery of high-quality education and training within a dynamic and supportive environment. You will play a key role in the full learning and teaching cycle—from guiding students through course selection to designing and delivering engaging, inclusive, and industry-relevant learning experiences. Drawing on your expertise, you will develop and implement assessment tools aligned with the RTO Standards 2025, relevant training packages, TAS documentation, Holmesglen procedures, and funding requirements. The position also involves creating high impact learning resources, building strong industry partnerships, and collaborating with academic teams to coordinate courses and drive continuous improvement. Your work will directly support student success and help shape the future workforce.

As Teacher, Waterproofing, you will:

  • Develop and implement innovative teaching and learning strategies and methodologies to meet and support the diverse needs of learners.
  • Develop high quality teaching resources and assessment materials, and teach in a range of agreed units, subjects and courses in a variety of learning modes and across a range of locations.
  • Participate in the delivery of teaching and educational services to industry including workplace visits, assessment of training needs, development of training plans and the effective delivery of courses.
  • Provide pre-course advice to students and participate in student selection, induction and marketing events including Open Days, Information nights and Expos.
  • Develop and implement innovative teaching and learning strategies and methodologies to meet and support the diverse needs of learners.

To be successful, you'll have:

  • An approved degree, diploma or certificate in a relevant vocational area, or approved equivalent qualifications, at least to the level being delivered and assessed; and
  • Certificate IV in Training and Assessment (TAE 40122 or TAE40116 or TAE40110) or its successor; or
  • An approved diploma or higher-level qualification in adult education or vocational education and training; or
  • A secondary teaching qualification and one of the following credentials:
  • TAESS00011 Assessor Skill Set, or
  • TAESS00019 Assessor Skill Set or its successor, or
  • TAESS00024 VET Delivered to School Students Teacher Enhancement Skill Set or its successor.
  • Current licences necessary to practice, or registration and/or membership of a relevant industry association where applicable.

  • Demonstrated ability to research, develop, and adapt teaching materials and assessment methods in line with the Principles of Assessment and Rules of Evidence, using contemporary and inclusive teaching strategies tailored to diverse student needs.

  • Proven ability to instruct students from varied backgrounds using adaptable strategies, supporting multicultural awareness and equity in learning

  • Be able to objectively analyse and evaluate available data, points of view, needs of stakeholders and potential solutions before recommending relevant actions or decisions.
  • WWCC and Police Check: Appointment to this position is dependent on obtaining an 'employee' Working with Children Check, and a valid Police Check within the last 12 months.
