Our Primary Health Care Service operates with a clear mission to provide life-changing health services, ensuring culturally appropriate care is at the forefront of everything we do. Your Role as a Health Promotion Program Officer

As the Health Promotion Program Officer, you will play a pivotal role in driving our health promotion initiatives throughout the Tablelands region, including Mareeba, Atherton, and Kuranda. Your efforts will focus on delivering educational programs and health services that resonate with our community members, particularly those at risk, while promoting active engagement and healthy lifestyle choices.

Working closely with our Health Promotions Team, you will collaborate with schools, community organizations, and stakeholders to implement a variety of health programs aligned with our Health Promotion Action Plan. Your role is essential in fostering strong relationships and supporting the health journeys of those within our community.

Candidate Profile

We are looking for a passionate and dedicated individual who is eager to make a difference in the lives of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. If you possess a strong work ethic, excellent interpersonal skills, and a desire to engage with communities, we want to hear from you

  • Qualifications: Certificate III or IV in Fitness or a related field.
  • Experience working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities, demonstrating cultural sensitivity.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and build rapport with diverse groups.
  • Strong organizational skills and an aptitude for working independently and within a team.

Selection Criteria

SC 1   Qualifications of Certificate III or IV in Fitness or Certificate III or IV in Primary Health Care or willingness to undertake relevant VET training.

SC 2 Demonstrated ability to Engage with community members to strengthen community involvement in Health Service Delivery.

SC 3 Ability to work with other health professionals and organizations.

SC 4 Foster a positive workplace culture through exemplary practice and role modelling behavior.

SC 5 Ability to work, related and clearly communicate using diverse styles of communication methods.

SC 6 Demonstrated competency in use of Business technology and desktop applications, internet, word, spreadsheet, and database packages.
