Based in Perth we specialise in providing Engineered solutions for surface and underground mining clients who demand reliability and performance. In our mechanical workshop, we seek a Mechanical Fitter who will be responsible for the mechanical assembly of Pulley shafts, shells and associated components.

This role is ideal for an experienced Extrusion Operator with strong mechanical aptitude and proven hands-on machine maintenance skills. You'll be directly involved in operating brand-new extrusion equipment while also taking responsibility for day-to-day maintenance, troubleshooting, and assisting with servicing to keep the line running at peak performance.

A Day-to-day:

  • Operate the extruder and related equipment, including assisting with start-ups, shut-downs, and changeovers.
  • Monitor machine settings, make adjustments, and report back to the Plant Manager.
  • Take ownership of day-to-day preventative maintenance, including lubrication, cleaning, and replacement of wear parts.
  • Perform basic troubleshooting of mechanical and process issues to minimise downtime, escalating as required.
  • Assist with minor repairs and servicing where safe and appropriate (no fitter qualification required).
  • Work closely with the Plant Manager and on-site engineering team to optimise extrusion processes and address recurring issues.
  • Load hoppers with materials (forklifts, pallet jacks, & manual handling of up to 25kg bags).
  • Monitor product quality and dimensions using callipers and other measuring tools.
  • Track and log usage of raw materials and material output via a digital interface.
  • Move and remove finished goods from the factory with a forklift.
  • Maintain a safe, clean, and well-organised work environment.

About you

  • Previous experience on an extrusion line is essential, including start-ups, shut downs and changeovers.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude, with hands-on experience in basic machine maintenance and troubleshooting.
  • Ability to identify, service, and fix common mechanical issues desirable (no trade qualification required).
  • Demonstrated ability to conduct preventative maintenance and contribute to reducing machine downtime.
  • Forklift ticket (LF) required.
  • Physically fit and able to lift up to 25kg.
  • Basic computer skills for interfacing with both the extruder and digital production management system.
  • Safety-first attitude, with the ability to identify hazards and uphold a strong safety culture.
  • Attention to detail and quality focused.
  • Strong communication skills (verbal and written) with the ability to work effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Excellent work ethic and can-do attitude.
  • Must have Australian work rights.
