At ING, we're passionate about helping businesses succeed. Our SME Lending team delivers market-leading broker and customer experiences, driven by innovation, collaboration, and a high-performance culture.
As a Senior Credit Specialist – Commercial Lending, you'll be a key player in ensuring a seamless origination process for SME loans. This role goes beyond credit assessment—it's about driving operational excellence, building strong broker relationships, and shaping process improvements that define the future of SME Lending.
You'll manage a dynamic pipeline of applications, resolve bottlenecks, and work closely with internal teams and external partners to keep deals moving. Your expertise will help brokers structure proposals, navigate complex credit scenarios, and achieve successful outcomes.
You'll also lead on risk management, compliance, and quality assurance, ensuring every decision aligns with ING's standards and strategic goals. Beyond day-to-day operations, you'll contribute to automation initiatives, support financial performance, and represent ING at broker events—reinforcing our reputation as a trusted partner in the SME market.
What you'll do
- Manage the SME loan pipeline to meet SLAs and adjust priorities as needed.
- Pre-vet, package, and submit lending applications accurately and compliantly.
- Build and maintain strong broker relationships for smooth deal origination.
- Collaborate with internal teams to ensure efficient end-to-end deal flow.
- Drive process improvements to enhance broker and customer experience.
- Support risk, compliance, audit, and quality standards across all activities.
What we're looking for
- Extensive experience in retail banking or financial services (5+ years), ideally in commercial lending (residential experience will be considered)
- Exceptional credit assessment skills and understanding of commercial lending processes.
- Proven ability to lead and implement change initiatives effectively.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities under pressure while maintaining attention to detail.
- Tertiary qualifications and experience with complex business structures are a plus.
What's in it for you?
- Discounted ING Health Insurance
- An additional Rest Day to support your wellbeing
- An IMPACT day to volunteer on approved sustainability activity
